Mabil’s Wolves hit last-gasp leveller

Awer Mabil’s FC Midtjylland grabbed a last-minute equaliser to salvage a draw against Hobro IK in the Danish Superliga.

Caltex Socceroos forward Mabil started for the 2018/19 Superliga runners-up, who went into the match with a perfect record of five straight wins in the 2019/20 campaign.

Mabil was replaced by Ukraine striker Artem Dovbyk on 68 minutes as head coach Kenneth Andersen looked to switch it up at MCH Arena.

But the Wolves looked set for their first defeat of the campaign when Pal Alexander Kirkevold put the visitors in front from the penalty spot on 84 minutes.

That was until Erik Sviatchenko came to the rescue as the clock ticked past 90 minutes to level the scores at 1-1.

Roy Nagai put the newly-promoted hosts into an 80th-minute lead but Shuhei Akasaki came to the rescue to clinch a share of the points for Langerak’s ninth-placed side.

Austria Vienna also had to settle for a 1-1 draw after James Jeggo’s side were pegged back by Admira Moedling.

The Caltex Socceroos midfielder started for the home side at Generali Arena and all was looking good when Christoph Monschein scored on 44 minutes.
