Aaron Mooy Named in FIFA 20 Team of the Week

Aaron Mooy’s yuletide star continues to shine bright with the Socceroos midfielder named in the most recent FIFA 20 Team of the Week.

The 29-year-old was named alongside the likes England captain Harry Kane, Argentine and Manchester City superstar Sergio Agüero, and Chelsea and France midfielder N'Golo Kanté in the latest release of ‘in form’ Ultimate Team cards.

Mooy received rave reviews for his showings for Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League over the Christmas-New Year period as his side moved to 14th position on the league table.

He lit up the highlight reels with a stunning maiden goal for the Seagulls – where he continues to shine on loan from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town this season.

Mooy capped off his Man of the Match performance against Bournemouth last week in the 79th minute to seal a 2-0 win for the Seagulls at the AMEX Stadium.

The goal drew high praise from Sky Sports commentator Alan Smith, who compared Mooy’s control on the chest and composed finish to ex-Arsenal and Netherlands great Dennis Bergkamp.

Mooy also created more chances than anyone else, had the most touches in the box, dribbles attempted and dribbles completed in the match against the Cherries.

He followed it up just days later with another strong showing as the Seagulls fought from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw with Frank Lampard's high-flying Chelsea, playing 68 minutes at the AMEX Stadium.

That result marked the first time the Seagulls had taken a point from Chelsea in 10 attempts in the English top flight.

Earlier in the week, Mooy also started in the Seagulls 2-1 Boxing Day defeat on the road to Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur.

Mooy’s FIFA 20 card has risen to an overall rating of 82 on the back of his recent performances.

He returns to match action for his club this weekend in the FA Cup when he, and Seagulls and Socceroos teammate Mat Ryan, lock horns with Sheffield Wednesday in a Third Round home tie.
