Watch: Taggart scores first goal of K League season

Adam Taggart opened his account for the season last night when he scored the opening goal for his Suwon Bluewings in their 2-0 win away to Seongnam FC.

Taggart’s long awaited goal arrived on Tuesday night just before the half hour mark with his close range effort eluding Seongnam shot stopper Kim Young-kwang.

He and his side have endured a tough start this season, however the end of the Aussie’s dry spell in front of goal may signal a turn in fortune for the Bluewings who currently sit in 6th position on the table.

Elsewhere in the K League, Brandon O’Neill put in a full shift for Pohang Steelers as they went down 2-1 to Jeonbuk FC.

The Steelers took the lead just after the 40th minute mark before the league leaders equalized on 61 minutes.

However, a 90th minute winner from Jeonbuk’s Kim Min-Hyeok ensured that Jeonbuk escaped with the three points.

Jason Davidson was absent for Ulsan Hyundai in their fixture against Gangwon FC on Tuesday night.

Ulsan recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at Gangwon which now takes them to three wins on the bounce as they retain 2nd place, only a point behind leaders Jeonbuk.

In the English Championship, Hull City announced overnight that they have failed to agree a short-term contract extension with Socceroos midfielder Jackson Irvine.

Irvine was out of contract with the Tigers and will depart the side less than a week before the league returns.

The 27-year-old played 112 games for the club since joining from Burton Albion in 2017 and was given the honour of captaining his side on a handful of occasions this season.
