Four changes were made from the side that defeated Indonesia, with Nathaniel Atkinson returning at right-back, while Craig Goodwin started having returned from injury.

The two other changes came in the form of Connor Metcalfe, and Mitchell Duke, who has missed most of the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Australia produced the first major chance in the 20th minute, with Craig Goodwin pouncing on a loose carry, forcing a strong shot which was by the South Korean keeper, with the deflection only just missing the boot of Connor Metcalfe.

Having soaked in the opposition's wave of attacks, the Socceroos counter punched once again in the 42nd minute, as Goodwin played the ball into the box.

Metcalfe managed to find the run of Atkinson, who dinked the ball over the crowded box, finding Goodwin once again, and the winger calmly volleyed the ball into the corner, a carbon copy of his finish against Indonesia.

Early in the second-half, it was Craig Goodwin pulling the strings, with a delightful cross toward a free Martin Boyle, who had his header and follow-up blocked by two magnificent saves by Jo Hyeon-woo, before Duke's shot from the deflection floated just over the bar.

With just 10 minutes to play, South Korea floated a cross over the Australian backline, reaching their strike through on goal.

Despite recovering from a fractured cheekbone, Maty Ryan showed his immense bravery, to lunge forward and tap the ball away from the South Korean's foot.

In injury-time, Son Heung-Min was brought down in the penalty box, allowing Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan a chance to equalise from the spot, which he converted.

Deep into first-half extra time, Tottenham Hostpur's Son Heung-min converted his free-kick from just outside the box, giving Korea Republic the lead 2-1.
