Watch: Maclaren's hat-trick in wild 5-5 draw

Jamie Maclaren has put himself in strong contention to be included in Bert van Marwijk’s extended Caltex Socceroos squad, set to be announced tomorrow, after he scored a hat-trick in a wild 5-5 Scottish Premier League game.

Maclaren, who has now scored eight goals in 13 appearances for Hibernian on loan, was Johnny on the spot in the 22nd minute against Rangers after he scored a perfect header into the bottom corner to give his team a 3-0 lead.

But despite the incredible start to the first half, Hibs then found themselves trailing 5-3 in front of their home supporters – giving Maclaren the chance to notch up another two goals for his hat-trick and end the season on a high.

Firstly, in the 70th minute, Maclaren found himself free in the penalty box after the Rangers defence opened up. It was the perfect chance for the former Hyundai A-League Golden Boot winner to sink his shot into the bottom corner.

Then, with Rangers down to 10-men and deep into stoppage time, the Aussie popped up again in the 93rd minute to fire his close range shot into the roof of the net after good work by substitute Brandon Baker down the left.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Tom Rogic’s Celtic fell to Aberdeen in the final game of the season 1-0.

Rogic started and played the full game for the Hoops, who had already long wrapped up the Scottish Premier League title.

Rogic and his team will now focus their attention on the Scottish Cup Final where they face Motherwell on Sunday.
