'There's great depth in the whole of Australia': Maclaren welcomes Giannou arrival

Jamie Maclaren says the arrival of Apostolos Giannou underlines the great striking depth within Australia.

Giannou joined up with the Socceroos in Al Ain as a replacement for the injured Martin Boyle, who was ruled out of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 two days ago.

And fellow attacker Maclaren is sure of the quality the Cyprus-based front man will bring to Graham Arnold’s squad.

“There’s great depth in the whole of Australia,” he said.

Following a lively training session at the Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium, Maclaren remarked that the Socceroos are heading into that clash in fantastic touch.

“It was nice and intense for starters, just embedding the way we want to play moving forward obviously scoring goals and being sure at the back.

“[After a] great win against Oman the boys are confident.”
