Subway Socceroos Squad Update – March FIFA Men's International Window

Subway Socceroo, Lewis Miller has been ruled out of Australia’s upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Lebanon due to injury.

Miller came from the field midway through the first half of Hibernian’s clash with Ross County, which got underway just hours before Graham Arnold officially announced his squad for the March FIFA Men’s International Window.

Following an assessment by Hibernian medical staff, in consultation with the Subway Socceroos medical team, Miller was deemed unavailable for international duty.

Miller will be replaced by his former Central Coast Mariners FC teammate, Josh Nisbet who earns his first senior men’s national team call up.

Nisbet – who has previously represented Australia at U-23 level – will join the squad on Sunday, fresh from securing the Central Coast Mariners a spot in the AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Final.

The Subway Socceroos are set to face Lebanon at Sydney’s CommBank Stadium on Thursday, 21 March before travelling to GIO Stadium, Canberra for a match on Tuesday, 26 March.

The qualifier at GIO Stadium will be designated as a home game for Lebanon, who have opted to play in Australia due to the current circumstances in the Middle East, with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) requesting this fixture be played in a neutral territory.

The March FIFA Men’s International Window sees the resumption of the Second Round of qualification for FIFA World Cup 2026™, following the recent AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ in which Australia made the Quarter Finals.
