Rogic's Celtic comeback, PL Aussies earn point

Tom Rogic has played his first game of the season for Celtic after coming on in the 67th minute of the Scottish Champion's 1-0 win over Hamilton.

Celtic scored the only goal of the match in the fourth minute through James Forrest, before Caltex Socceroos midfielder Rogic was given his first minutes of the Scottish Premier League season.

The 26-year-old Australian won several fouls in the second half as he marked his return with a victory, which saw Celtic maintain their three-point lead at the top of the ladder.

Elsewhere in the UK, Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy’s Brighton earned a point after a 1-1 draw with Burnley in their Premier League match.

Ryan started in goal for the Seagulls, who went ahead in the 51st minute courtesy of a superb volley from Neal Maupay.

The Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper was alert to pounce on any loose balls, and was largely untroubled until the first minute of stoppage time when he was beaten by Jeff Hendrick’s strike from outside the box.

That was after Mooy came on as a second half substitute in the 86th minute, with the draw seeing Brighton earn their fifth point of the campaign.
