Match preview: Caltex Socceroos v Nepal

The Caltex Socceroos’ journey to Qatar comes to Canberra on Thursday night (AEDT) as Graham Arnold’s men go up against Nepal.

After a great result in Kuwait last month, the Caltex Socceroos are now on home soil at GIO Stadium for the first time on the road to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It’s a new frontier for the green and gold, having never come up against Nepal – ranked 161st in the world – in a senior international before.

With a big home crowd behind them, the Caltex Socceroos will be hungry to maintain their perfect start to the current phase of AFC qualifying.

What they said

Caltex Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold:

“Our group did very well in their first qualifier away from home, so I am pleased to be able maintain significant consistency within the squad as we seek to build upon our strong start to qualifying for Qatar.

“Many of the players in our squad for this window have impressed with their clubs since our win in Kuwait, so we are confident that they will arrive ready to put on great performances both home and away.”
