Langerak awarded J.League MVP for December

Socceroos goalkeeper Mitch Langerak has been rewarded for his stunning form towards the end of the J.League season, taking out the Player of the Month for December.

Langerak made history on Saturday, breaking the J.League record for most clean sheets in a single season with 17.

The brilliant run of form from Langerak and his Nagoya Grampus side saw the team finish in third on the table, sealing a qualifying spot in next year's AFC Champions League.

The side let in just one goal in their final six league games, finishing the season with a run of 433 consecutive minutes without conceding.

Langerak spoke to SBS The World Game after creating history, saying: "To be honest, without question this is the best form I've ever been in.

"Over the course of my career I have continued to develop and get better and I'm now seeing the fruits of all the work I have put in throughout my career.

"I feel like I'm beginning to enjoy the rewards of, for example, all the hours I stayed back at Dortmund training to do extra work and the shooting practice I was involved in with the boys.

"I have no doubt that I am the best goalkeeper I have ever been right now."
