Subway Joeys

The Subway Joeys will be the first Australian youth side in action this year,  as they head to Turkey to commence their preparations for June’s AFC U-17 Asian Cup Thailand 2023™ in the four nations U-17 Antalya Youth Cup.

The side will face U-17 national men’s teams representing Czechia, Morocco, and Uzbekistan from 8 – 18 February 2023, with Head Coach Brad Maloney selecting a 23-player squad for this tournament.

The invitational tournament will be the first time the team face competitive football since qualifying for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup on home soil in October, as they topped a group containing China PR, Cambodia and Northern Mariana Islands with three-straight wins in Shepparton.

The AFC U-17 Asian Cup will take place in Thailand, from 15 June - 2 July 2023. The tournament's draw is currently scheduled to take place on March 30.

The continental tournament acts as a qualification event for the FIFA U17 World Cup Peru 2023, with the top four teams booking a ticket to South America later this year.

The World Cup is scheduled for 10 November – 2 December 2023.

Subway Young Socceroos

The Subway Young Socceroos are also approaching an Asian Cup, and potentially a World Cup, in 2023.

Trevor Morgan's side will travel to Central Asia for the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023, which will play out from February 26 - March 18.

Just like their U-17 counterparts, a top-four finish would be enough to secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Indonesia 2023, which is scheduled for May 20 - June 11.

Subway Olyroos

Under the mentorship of Barcelona 1992 Olympian Tony Vidmar, the Olyroos will begin their bid to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this year.

First up, the squad are set to re-gather for the first time since finishing fourth at the AFC U23 Asian Cup in June 2022 with a training camp in Italy, taking place in late March.

Other activity in future FIFA windows is to be confirmed, as the squad build up a new set of AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers, taking place from 4-12 September.

If successful, the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024, which acts as qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Men's Football Tournament, is currently scheduled for January 10-28 next year.
