Kenny Dougall joins Blackpool

Australian midfielder Kenny Dougall has penned a two year contract with English League One club Blackpool.

Dougall will call Bloomfield Road home for the foreseeable future after he inked a two year deal with the Seasiders.

The 27-year-old most recently turned out for Championship club Barnsley, where he spent two seasons in which he made 43 appearances.

His new club finished in 13th place last campaign but have had a mixed start to the new season – currently sitting in 20th position with one win from their six fixtures.

However, it’s the club’s style of play and mentality which swayed the Aussie to link up with the former Premier League outfit.

“I spoke to the gaffer and his philosophy about the way he wants to play football is really attractive and something I wanted to be a part of,” Dougall told Blackpoolfc.co.uk.

“The ambition of the Club speaks for itself - they’re bringing in new faces and want to have a go this year. It’s something that attracted me so I’m really happy I’m here now.”

Blackpool manager Neil Critchley has been a long-term admirer of the midfielder and was pleased to secure his signature.

““Kenny is a player we have been tracking throughout the summer, who brings a good amount of experience to the squad,” Critchley said.

“He spent a number of years in the top-flight of Dutch football, before moving to Barnsley and helping them gain promotion from League One.

“His positional play and ability to connect the team together from midfield will be valuable assets to the team. We worked hard to identify a player of Kenny’s personality and quality, and we are delighted he has decided to join us.”
