Following a phenomenal season with the Central Coast Mariners, Subway Socceroos midfielder Josh Nisbet has signed with Scottish Premiership side Ross County as a free agent.
The Gosford-based club announced their star playmaker was leaving at the expiration of his contract despite being offered a new deal with Nisbet determined to pursue an overseas opportunity and that dream has been realised.
Nisbet will join the Staggies on a three-year contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, subject to international clearance.
The 25-year-old experienced a flawless campaign with the Mariners, scoring four goals and recording 17 assists across all competitions while claiming an historic treble. For his exploits in the Isuzu UTE A-League, Nisbet later received the Johnny Warren Medal.
His strong performances also coincided with a maiden senior international call-up from Graham Arnold in March and subsequently debuted as a substitute against Lebanon at Canberra's GIO Stadium. He then appeared off the bench during the recent June FIFA Window against Bangladesh.
Nisbet departs the Central Coast, where his honours include two A-League Men's Championships, one Premiership and one AFC Cup as well as a Mariners medal and two PFA Team of the Season inclusions after 145 appearances following his progression from the club's youth system.
Ross County boss, Don Cowie, said in a club statement: "Joshua is a really exciting addition to the group. He had an exceptional season last season, winning both team and individual accolades, which has resulted in him breaking into the Australian national team.
"There has been a lot of interest in Joshua from all over the world but we are absolutely delighted that he has chosen to join the Staggies for the next steps in his career."
Nisbet, who will wear the number 23 jersey, is the fifth Socceroo to sign for the club after Jackson Irvine, Harry Souttar, Alex Robertson, and Cameron Burgess.
