Joeys end Italian tour with victory

The Joeys have beaten Varese 2-1 in the Aussies’ final match of their four game tour of Italy.

Queenslander Nicholas D-Agostino opened the scoring for the visitors and Northern NSW product Cameron Joice netted in the second stanza to secure victory on the weekend.

The starting line-up for this game was: Delianov (gk), Verbi, Davies, Kim, Waters, Caletti, Panetta, Arzani, Bandiera,Petratos(c),D'Agostino.

It capped a successful tour for Tony Vidmar and the young Australians. They drew 2-2 with AC Milan, were defeated by Inter Milan 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Parma.

This squad is the inaugural intake of 24 scholars for the new FFA Centre of Excellence which will be based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra.

Previously the AIS Men-s Football Program was a jointly managed between the AIS and FFA.

Following a restructure, this year the program is now funded by the Australian Sports Commissions- Winning Edge Strategy and completely administered by FFA. The FFA appointed Technical and Coaching staff are also responsible for the selection of the players for the program.
