‘It’s great to get the wizard back’: Arnold on Rogic return

Graham Arnold has hailed the return of Tom Rogic ahead of Australia’s clash with Jordan on Friday, November 15.

It has been 11 months since Rogic last pulled on the green and gold as the Celtic star recovered from a knee injury.

The 26-year-old returned to the pitch with the Scottish champions in September and last month played the full 90 minutes in resounding wins over Ross County and Aberdeen.

Last week, the playmaker turned in a strong performance in Celtic’s 5-2 win over Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

“It’s great to get the wizard back,” Arnold said.

“To get a player of Tommy’s quality back into the squad is only a positive.”

“It’s been common knowledge he had a tough start to the season at Celtic getting over his knee injury and those type of things.

“Over the last month he’s put in a lot of game minutes and his energy for Celtic has been fantastic.”

Arnold’s 24-player squad are set to arrive in the Middle East on Sunday ahead of the clash against Jordan at the King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman on Thursday, 14 November at 6pm local time, 3am on Friday, 15 November AEDT.

“Jordan away will be a great occasion for a lot of the players and I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

“For once it favours us that all of the boys overseas get a short travel into Jordan and they will all arrive on Sunday so we get that extra training session in that we don’t normally get in.

“It’s just about preparing for the game and being ready for the game. It’s one that we’re looking forward to.”
