The competition was originally scheduled to start on the February 29, but that was quickly postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

However, the K League is now gearing up to play games behind closed doors.

Having finished eighth in the previous season, Taggart says that the goal for the season is obvious from a team perspective.

“I think Suwon as a club, eighth is something that isn’t really ever considered. We’ve definitely got to improve on that and that is just a no brainer really," said Taggart.

“Top six but competing in the top four is something reasonable and something we can do.”

Despite their finish in the league, Suwon still managed to win the Cup competition, and Taggart was named as the K League’s top goal scorer with 20 goals in 33 games.

But to earn a higher place on the ladder this season, Taggart knows that Suwon will have perform in every match.

“There are obviously some good teams but at the same time, Suwon is one of the big clubs here and we need to make sure we perform like that every week," said Taggart.

“In saying that, the Korean league is so tough and because there is so much on the line every week, with promotion and relegation, it’s always a difficult game every week.

“You play through some tough conditions and a lot of the time, you’re playing every three days as well. There is always so many factors contributing to the league and I think that’s why I’ve loved it as well.”

Being one of the first leagues in the world to return, Taggart feels everyone involved in the K League feel grateful that they can return to football.

“The whole situation is just crazy, not having an end in sight or a solution in sight," he said.

"It’s a great feeling to be a part of it but and I think for the other Aussies, they’ll be buzzing. You don’t want to see the A-league being put to a hold or not being able to finish.

“Personally, over here, it’s something we need to be grateful for, that we’re one of the first and only leagues to resume at this moment. It puts everything into a lot of perspective.”

Taggart and his Suwon Bluewings kick off at 8:00pm (AEST) at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, against    Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
