The story of young American girl Bella’s passion for Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy made headlines at the start of this month when Mooy’s club, Huddersfield Town, kindly invited her and her Father to England to watch the Terriers play Leicester City in the Premier League.
Bella, who has been receiving treatment for brain cancer, developed a fondness for Mooy after watching him represent Australia at last year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
After visiting Huddersfield, meeting Mooy, walking onto the pitch with him, and seeing him score against Leicester, Bella’s story went viral and touched the hearts of millions of football fans across the globe.
To ensure Bella has a jersey to wear when Mooy is next on international duty with Australia, FFA recently dispatched a personalised jersey to Texas, and today received notification that her parcel had arrived safely in the ‘States.
“Thank you so much for sending Bella the jersey,” her Father Scott wrote. “She is so excited and planning on wearing the jersey to the hospital tomorrow when she has some more tests.”
The Socceroos wish you well, Bella!
