Caltex Socceroos defender Alex Gersbach has helped his new side Lens progress to the French Cup Qiuarter-Finals overnight.
Gersbach, on loan from Norwegian club Rosenborg, played the full 90 minutes as second-tier Lens secured a 1-0 upset win over Ligue 1 outfit Troyes.
Cristian López netted the game’s only goal with 20 minutes remaining as Lens booked their spot in the last eight.
It was Gersbach’s second start for the club since making the switch just over a fortnight ago.
The fullback will be eager to earn consistent first-team action ahead of Australia’s upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Norway in March.
