The Caltex Socceroos served up late drama in their first home match of 2018 as Massimo Luongo scored a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Korea Republic.

Debutant Martin Boyle, young winger Awer Mabil and enterprising right-back Josh Risdon were among the clear positives as 32,922 fans turned out to watch Graham Arnold's men lock horns with the side they beat in the AFC Asian Cup 2015 final.

Saturday's absorbing contest marked Jamie Maclaren's return to former home Suncorp Stadium, where he enjoyed two prolific seasons with Brisbane Roar.

There were also starts for Premier League pair Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan with a strong XI rolled out on an encouraging night in Queensland.
