Aussies Abroad Wrap: Ryan debuts, Boyle scores against Rangers & Dougall assists in Championship

It was another big night of Aussies abroad action as Mat Ryan kept a clean sheet on his Danish Superliga debut, Martin Boyle scored against Rangers and Kenny Dougall registered an assist for Blackpool.

Europe

Starting in Denmark, where Maty Ryan made his Danish Superliga debut with F.C. Copenhagen and pulled off a number of key saves to ensure a clean sheet and a 3-0 win over Lyngby Boldklub on Saturday. 

Copenhagen are four points off top position after six matches in the Danish Superliga. 

In Spain, Awer Mabil started in LaLiga for the first time and played 62 minutes as Cádiz CF suffered a 2-0 loss against CA Osasuna on Sunday. 

In Belgium, Jason Davidson started again and played 81 minutes as K.A.S. Eupen lost 3-1 to R.F.C. Seraing on Saturday. James Jeggo also made his return from injury and came off the bench to replace Davidson in a deep-lying midfield role. 

In Olyroos abroad news, Alou Kuol started and played the first half as VfB Stuttgart II won 1-0 against VfR Wormatia Worms on Saturday.

United Kingdom

Starting in Scotland, where Martin Boyle and Lewis Miller's Hibernian secured a last-gasp equaliser to draw 2-2 with Rangers on Saturday. Boyle played 90 minutes and scored in his first start back for the Edinburgh club by nipping in between two Rangers defenders to knock the ball home from close range. 

It's was Boyle's fourth goal in two matches against Rangers as Hibs came from a goal down to tie Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men, who had two players sent off.

Miller also came off the bench in the 77th minute to make his first Scottish Premiership appearance. 

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership, Aziz Behich's Dundee United lost 3-0 to St. Mirren on Sunday despite having 70% possession. Behich started at left back and played 61 minutes as Dundee remained winless after four matches. 

In England, Kenny Dougall played 90 minutes and registered an assist as Blackpool drew 3-3 with Burnley in the Championship on Sunday. Dougall came in unmarked at the back post, received the ball from a corner and squared it to Jerry Yates who smashed home Blackpool's equaliser in the 76th minute.

Dougall has thrived in recent weeks after earning his starting place back and an assist will do his chances of keeping his position no harm. 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Riley McGree started and played the first half as Middlesbrough suffered a 1-0 defeat against Reading on Saturday. The loss leaves Middlesbrough winless after five games and in desperate need of points to climb off the foot of the ladder. 


Bailey Wright also came off the bench at half time as Sunderland won 1-0 against Stoke City on Sunday. 

In Olyroos Abroad news, Tyrese Francois was an unused substitute as Fulham secured a late 3-2 victory over Brentford at Craven Cottage on Saturday. 

In League Two, Lachlan Brook started and played 56 minutes at right wing as  Crewe Alexandra FC drew 2-2 with Northampton Town on Sunday. The result leaves Crewe in seventh position and three points off top spot after five matches. 

Asia 

In Japan, Mitch Duke started and played 90 minutes Fagiano Okayama suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to top-of-the-table Yokohama FC in the J2 League on Saturday. 


Elsewhere in Japan, Adam Taggart's Cerezo Osaka had their match against FC Tokyo postponed due to the approach of Tropical Storm Meari.
