Aussies Abroad: Juric scores in the Cup, as Cahill and Mabil feature
Tomi Juric scored in FC Luzern’s 2-0 win over FC Chiasso in the Swiss Cup Round of 16, while Awer Mabil started for FC Midtjylland in their Cup game, and Cahill featured in the Indian Super League.
Juric's goal, scored on 67 minutes, was the 27-year-old's first for the season as he looks to help seventh-placed Luzern get back into UEFA Champions League contention.
Former Caltex Socceroo, Tim Cahill, played approximately 10 minutes in Jamshedpur’s 4-1 win over Goa in the Indian Super League. The appearance comes on the back of Cahill’s first goal for the club, where his third-minute header lead his side to a 2-2 draw with Kerala Blasters.
Cahill has now made five appearances in the ISL for Jamshedpur.
Moving focus back to Europe, Awer Mabil started in Midtjylland’s 2-0 victory over Copenhagen in the Danish Cup Round of 16.
The 23-year-old, who recently scored his Caltex Socceroo goal, was rewarded with a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2022.
Mabil currently has 10 appearances and two assists in the Danish Superliga.
