WATCH: Mooy lifts League Cup and Irvine scores again

Aaron Mooy continued his fine form to secure silverware with Celtic FC, while Jackson Irvine registered back-to-back goals to continue FC St Pauli's climb up the table.

Starting in Scotland, where Aaron Mooy pulled the strings in the centre of the park as Celtic defeated arch-rivals Rangers 2-1 in the Scottish League Cup Final. 

The Socceroos midfielder played his part in both goals, playing defence-splitting passes that led to Kyogo Furuhashi's brace. 

The result at Hampden Park marked Mooy's first trophy with Celtic, who defended their League Cup crown for the second-straight year under Australian boss Ange Postecoglou. 


In the Scottish Premiership, Ryan Strain started and played 90 minutes as St Mirren drew with St Johnstone 1-1 on Sunday.

Aziz Behich also played a full game for Dundee United as they suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss to Ross County on Sunday. United remain bottom of the table, four points away from Kilmarnock. 

In the Scottish Championship, Dylan McGowan started but hobbled off with a calf problem after 37 minutes of Sunday's 4-1 defeat to Queen's Park, which ended the club's run of five games unbeaten in the Championship.

In England, Harry Souttar played another 90 minutes in the Premier League as Leicester City suffered a 1-0 loss to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday. 


In the Championship, Riley McGree started and came off in the 78th minute as Middlesbrough suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to West Brom on Sunday. 

Boro remain third, just two points ahead of fourth-placed Blackburn Rovers but they are now seven adrift of second-placed Sheffield United - and 19 behind runaway leaders Burnley.

Kenny Dougall was an unused substitute as Blackpool lost 3-1 to Reading on Sunday. With just 13 games left of the season, Blackpool find themselves second from bottom - four points from safety. 

Callum Elder was also an unused substitute for Hull City on Sunday in a 1-0 loss to Bristol City.

In League One, Massimo Luongo came on at half time as Ipswich Town FC beat MK Dons 1-0 on Sunday.

Europe

In Germany, Jackson Irvine scored in back-to-back games for FC St Pauli.

The Socceroos midfielder's bullet header after 26 minutes turned out to be the winner in a tight 1-0 victory over Hansa Rostock. 

It was a result that continued St Pauli's climb up the 2. Bundesliga ladder, overcoming a slow start to the campaign to now sit in seventh. 

In the Netherlands, Maty Ryan started in goal again for AZ Alkmaar as they returned to winning ways and regained second position with a 2-1 win over Cambuur on Sunday. 

Awer Mabil was an unused substitute for AC Sparta Prague in a 3-2 win over FC Trinity Zlín on Sunday. 

In France's Ligue 1, Denis Genreau featured again off the bench for Toulouse FC, as they were defeated 3-0 be Reims. 

In Serie B, Fran Karacic played 90 minutes for Brescia Calcio in a 2-0 loss to Bari on Sunday. Brescia are second to bottom, one point away from safety. 

Jason Davidson played another 90 minutes for KAS Eupen as they drew 2-2 with Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday. Eupen are three points above safety.

In the K1 League, Harrison Delbridge started and played 90 minutes as Incheon United kicked off the season with a 2-1 loss against FC Seol on Saturday. 


The Japanese J1 League continued on Sunday for Thomas Deng as he played another 90 minutes for Albirex Niigata in a 2-1 win over Sanfrecce. 


Mitch Langerak was in action again for Nagoya Grampus and kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Kyoto Sanga on Saturday. 

Mitch Duke also started and played a full game for Machida Zelvia in the J2 League as they beat Gunma 2-0 on Sunday. 

Over to Qatar, where Trent Sainsbury played another 90 minutes as Al-Wakrah SC drew 0-0 with Al-Shamal on Sunday.

In the Israeli Premier League, Nikita Rukavytsya came on in the 85th minute as Maccabi Haifa beat Beitar  Jerusalem 2-1 on Sunday. 

The United States

The MLS season also kicked off with Milos Degenek starting in the heart of defence and playing 90 minutes for Columbus Crew in a 4-1 loss against Philadelphia on Sunday.

United Kingdom

In the English Championship, goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic was in goal again for Huddersfield in a 4-0 loss to league leaders Burnley on Sunday. 

Despite the result, the Olyroos goalkeeper made eight saves, taking his tally to 12 in the last two matchdays in the EFL Championship - more than any other goalkeeper during that time.


In League Two, Lachlan Brook was an unused subsisted in Crewe Alexandra's 1-1 draw with Rochdale on Sunday.

In Germany's 3. Liga, John Iredale came off the bench in the 77th minute for SV Wehen Wiesbaden in a 4-1 loss Vfl Osnabruck on Sunday.
