Aussies Abroad: Vukovic injured as Genk exit Europa League

It wasn’t a happy night in the UEFA Europa League for Danny Vukovic as he was stretched off in Genk’s 4-1 loss to Slavia Prague on Friday morning (AEDT).

Still scoreless after the first leg, Genk returned home with a good chance of progression to the Round of 16 and opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Leandro Trossard.

The visitors then hit back via Vladimir Coufal before Genk’s fortunes took a turn for the worse when Vukovic collided with one of his own players and Ibrahim Traore smashed home the loose ball.

The Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper was stretched off and it was all downhill from there for the Belgian Pro League leaders as Slavia’s Milan Skoda scored a brace to send the Czech side into the Round of 16.
