Aussies Abroad: Taggart strikes again for Suwon, Deng & Langerak maintain unbeaten record in Japan

Adam Taggart and Terry Antonis’ Suwon Bluewings secured a 1-1 draw against Brandon O’Neill’s Pohang Steelers in their K League affair while both of our Japan based Socceroos remain undefeated in the J League.

Taggart was on target for the Bluewings and opened the scoring with a close range header in the 38th minute.

The Aussie striker put in a full shift for Suwon as they begin their rise up the league ladder whilst Antonis started and played 55 minutes.

O’Neill played in his trusted defensive midfield role for Pohang and was substituted in the dying moments of the encounter.

In the J League, Thomas Deng played the full game for Urawa Red Diamonds as they triumphed 1-0 at home to Kashima Antlers on Sunday night.

Urawa sit in 2nd place on the ladder on 10 points with only goal difference separating them from leaders Kawasaki Frontale.

Mitch Langerak earned his first clean sheet of the campaign as his Nagoya Grampus enjoyed a 2-0 win at Cerezo Osaka on Sunday night.

Nagoya occupy 5th spot on the table and are one of only three sides which remain undefeated this season.

In the English Premier League, Maty Ryan and Aaron Mooy’s Brighton & Hove Albion were on the wrong end of a 5-0 score line against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Aussie duo featured for the entirety of the encounter as they endured one of their heaviest defeats of the season.

In the English Championship, Massimo Luongo enjoyed a winning return to QPR as his Sheffield Wednesday registered a 3-0 victory at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Luongo put in a full shift in the heart of midfield as they cruised past QPR, overtaking them on the league ladder in the process.

Brad Smith was an unused substitute for Cardiff City as their playoff hopes were dealt another blow after they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Fulham on Friday.

Two Aussies clashed in the Danish Superligaen on Sunday as Alex Gersbach’s AGF Aarhus recorded a 3-0 win over Awer Mabil’s Midtjylland.

Mabil’s side were crowned league champions on Thursday after they came from behind to beat FC Kobenhavn 3-1 with the Socceroos winger weighing in with a sublime effort.

However it was Aarhus who were successful in their latest league encounter as Gersbach featured for the final three minutes while Mustafa Amini wasn’t named in the matchday squad.
