Aussies Abroad: Taggart, Antonis win Korean FA Cup

Adam Taggart will head into Caltex Socceroos camp in Jordan with some extra luggage after his Suwon Bluewings won the Korean FA Cup on Sunday.

Suwon, who also had Aussie Terry Antonis in their starting line-up, beat third-tier outfit Daejeon Korail 4-0 in the second leg at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

After the first leg away from home ended 0-0, Suwon’s class shone out in front of their home fans as they won the Cup for a record fifth time.

Suwon led 1-0 at the break thanks to Ko Seung-Beom’s 15th minute strike before netting three times in the last 22 minutes.

Seung-Beom scored his second midway through the second-half before late goals from Kim Min-Woo and Hoon Sang completed the rout.

The FA Cup triumph means Suwon have qualified for next year’s AFC Champions League.
