On Sunday morning, 58-time Socceroo Trent Sainsbury netted a first-half brace as he inspired KV Kortrijk to a 5-0 derby win in the Belgian Pro League.
Kortrijk claimed their first win since the 18th of December after Trent Sainsbury's two-goal salvo saw his side climb up the Belgian Pro League ladder.
Sainsbury opened the scoring as his header guided right past Zute Waregem goalkeeper Louis Bostyn on the 17th minute for his Belgian club.
The 30-year-old’s second goal of the evening came from a corner late on in the first half as Faïz Selemani provided a beautiful ball into the box for the Socceroo to head home on the 44th minute.
Defensively the goal-scoring centre-back rounded out an extremely impressive performance on the evening as KV Kortrijk kept a clean-sheet in an extremely impressive 5-0 win that saw them shoot up the Belgian Pro League table 28 games in.
The Western Australian has now scored his third goal of the season in 28 games for KV Kortijk and has his sixth clean-sheet of the season.
Trent Sainsbury and KV Kortrijk are next in action against Belgian giants Genk with kick-off slated for 2:00am on Monday 28th of February.
