Aussies Abroad: Ryan and Vukovic headline Tuesday morning action

Two Socceroos goalkeepers were in action overnight as Maty Ryan’s Brighton and Hove Albion were held to a draw in the English Premier League while Danny Vukovic’s Genk sealed all three points from their Belgian Pro League fixture.

Ryan’s Brighton & Hove Albion were only able to take a point away from their match against West Brom at the Hawthorns after they conceded a late equaliser.

The south coast club enjoyed a dominant first half and took the lead five minutes before the interval through a Jake Livermore own goal.

A spectacular second half save from Ryan saw him push out Filip Krovinovic’s effort on 68 minutes before the hosts eventually restored parity 15 minutes later.

Karlan Grant’s thundering strike from just over 12 yards out flew past Ryan and prevented the Seagulls from recording all three points since their second round victory at Newcastle.

The stalemate sees Brighton drop one place into 16th on the Premier League ladder as they gear up for another match on the road – taking on Tottenham next Monday morning (AEDT).

Heading to Belgium where Vukovic’s Genk came from behind to secure a 2-1 win away to Gent in their Pro League encounter.

The Aussie goalkeeper pulled off a string of important saves for his club as they recorded back-to-back league wins for the first time this season and extended their unbeaten run to five matches.

They now sit in eighth on the Pro League table and have a meeting with Eupen this Saturday morning (AEDT).
