Aussies Abroad: Rogic’s sublime assist in Celtic win

Tom Rogic has produced another moment of magic as champions Celtic recorded another win in the Scottish Premiership overnight.

With scores locked at 1-1 against Hearts early in the second half, the Caltex Socceroos playmaker came up with an audacious piece of skill to put the Hoops in front.

Rogic played a sublime ball with the outside of his left foot into the path of Moussa Dembele, who made no mistake with the finish, as Celtic went on to win 3-1.

The 25-year-old’s assist is just another reminder of his talent and importance to Celtic, who are desperate to get Rogic to sign a new deal in Glasgow.

But Rogic is not short of suitors, with Premier League club Southampton reportedly keen to sign him for next season.

Rogic wasn’t the only Caltex Socceroos attacker to shine in Europe overnight, with Robbie Kruse also featuring prominently in the 2.Bundesliga.

While his Bochum side was on the end of 3-1 loss at Union Berlin, Kruse set up their only goal scored by Lukas Hinterseer.

The defeat keeps Bochum in sixth spot with just one game left in the campaign.

Elsewhere, Caltex Socceroos defender Trent Sainsbury continues to get valuable game time in Switzerland, again playing another 90 minutes as his Grasshopper side lost 2-1 at FC Thun.

In Belgium, keeper Danny Vukovic endured a difficult night as Genk were crushed 5-0 away at Standard Liege.

Aziz Behich put in a full shift for Bursaspor in Turkey but they went down against high-flying Fenerbache, while James Jeggo also got through 90 minutes for Sturm Graz, as they lost the top-of-the-table clash against Salzburg 4-1 in Austria.
