Aussies Abroad: Rogic, Vukovic primed for big UEFA Europa League ties

Tom Rogic and Celtic will face traditional La Liga powerhouse Valencia while Danny Vukovic’s Gent take on Czech giants Slavia Prague after the draw for the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 was made on Tuesday morning (AEDT).

Celtic scrapped through by the skin of their teeth, after group rivals RB Leipzig suffered a shock loss at the hands of minnows Rosenberg and will fancy their chances despite heading into their tie with Valencia as underdogs.

MOOY UPDATE: Additional injury assessment to be conducted

Rogic has enjoyed another influential campaign with the Hoops, netting four goals in 25 appearances.

The Spanish side have made a less than ideal start to their La Liga campaign, sitting in 14th spot, and will have to negotiate a tricky trip to the hostile environment of Parkhead.

Vukovic meanwhile enjoyed a strong spell between the sticks for Genk as the Belgian Pro League leaders topped their Europa League group to progress to the knockout stage where they will hope to emulate their run to the quarter-finals two seasons ago.

The ties will be played over two weeks in February.
