Aussies Abroad: Martin Boyle makes it two in two for Hibs

Socceroos forward Martin Boyle scored and set up another as Hibernian returned to third in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday morning (AEDT).

Jackson Irvine also continued to impress during his fifth appearance for his new club, playing 90 minutes alongside Boyle who found the back in consecutive matches during a 2-1 away victory over St Mirren.

Boyle was in the thick of the action, pouncing on a loose ball after 36 minutes that resulted in a red card challenge from St. Mirren goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.

The speedy attacker dusted himself off from the heavy collision and ten minutes into the second half delivered a precise set piece that was headed home by Ryan Porteous to grant Hibs the lead.

He then took matters into his own hands after Jamie Murphy won a penalty with 20 minutes remaining.

Boyle stepped up and slammed the spot kick home - registering a seventh goal in 26 appearances this season in the process.

It was his second goal in as many games, after also scoring Hibs' second in last weekend's 2-0 win over Dundee United.

That goal was set up by international teammate Jackson Irvine, who was yesterday named in the Scottish Premiership's Team of the Week following his pair of assists.
