Aussies Abroad: Mabil assist helps Midtjylland four clear of Danish Superliga rivals

Caltex Socceroos attacker Awer Mabil tallied a crucial assist in FC Midtjylland's comeback win against Randers in the Danish Superliga on Tuesday morning (AEDT).

Returning to Denmark after two strong showings for Australia in wins over Nepal and Chinese Taipei during the international break, Mabil made his eighth league start for the Wolves as Midtjylland posted a 2-1 victory against one of the countries form sides.

Simon Piesinger broke the deadlock for Randers, who had won eight consecutive matches in all competitions prior to kick off.

The lead lasted all of four minutes, however, with Mabil delivering a sublime cross for Mikael Anderson to send home at the back post.

Giannou helps AEK Larnaca secure draw in Cyprus

Apostolos Giannou helped AEK Larnaca snatch a 1-1 draw away to AEL Limassol in the Cypriot First Division.

The Caltex Socceroos striker was a constant handful for the AEL defence on the night, and was involved in the move which led to his side's opening goal, scored by on-loan Genk midfielder Ivan Fiolic.

AEL restored parity eight minutes later from the penalty spot through Brazilian striker Ivan Carlos França Coelho.

The results leaves Giannou's Larnaca third in Cyprus.
