Aussies abroad: Kruse on target in Germany

Caltex Socceroos winger Robbie Kruse found the target in Germany to help VFL Bochum to a huge upset in the 2.Bundesliga overnight.

Kruse netted his side’s second goal as they stunned league-leaders Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-1 away from home.

Played in behind by Lukas Hinterseer, Kruse calmly slotted a left-footed effort through the legs of onrushing keeper Raphael Wolf.

It was the 29-year-old’s fifth goal of the season.

The win, Bochum’s third-straight in the league, lifts them to sixth spot on the table after 29 matches.

Elsewhere, former Melbourne Victory youngster  Sebastian Pasquali netted his first goal for Ajax’s reserves side in the Eerste Divisie overnight.

The 18-year-old scored the opener as Ajax II defeated NEC 2-0 at home.
