Aussies Abroad: Daniel Arzani makes loan move to Belgium

After returning to the world stage with the Olyroos, Daniel Arzani's next club has been confirmed.

Lommel SK recently announced the loan signing of the 22-year-old, in a deal that will run until July 2022.

Arzani, who was Australia's breakout star at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, makes the move with consistent game time at the forefront of his mind.

It comes after a difficult few years at club level after he sealed a move to Manchester City - before suffering a serious knee injury on his debut for his first loan destination Celtic.

Australian fans were granted a snapshot of his ability during his two starts at Tokyo 2020 against Spain and Argentina, as well as an impressive cameo during the Olyroos' final group game against Egypt.

"We have a lot of talent in this group," Arzani told Lommel SK's website. "My goal is to play as well as possible and help the group move forward."

Lommel commenced their Belgian Second Division season with a 3-2 defeat last weekend, and will take on Royal Excel Mouscron in their second league assignment on Saturday, local time (Sunday, 4:45am kick off AEST).
