Aussies Abroad: Craig Goodwin grabs 10th assist of season in Saudi Arabia

Craig Goodwin picked up his 10th assist of the season for Al-Wehda in their 3-1 defeat to league leaders Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday morning.

The Socceroos winger set up his side’s only goal of the contest with his free kick picking out the head of Renato Chaves who headed home on 79 minutes.

The loss means that Al-Wehda stay in fourth position, with third placed Al-Ahli ahead of them by one point ahead of the final matchday.

Goodwin’s side will be hoping for results to go their way in the final round as they look to get the three points against Al Hazm on Thursday morning.

In the J League, Thomas Deng’s Urawa Red Diamonds suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Cerezo Osaka on Saturday night.

Deng unfortunately scored an own goal as his side fell to their fifth defeat of the season.

They drop to 7th on the league table and will be in action again on Wednesday night when they host Sagan Tosu.

Brandon O’Neill was absent for Pohang Steelers as they came from behind to beat Daegu FC 3-2 at home on Saturday night.
