Aussies Abroad: Boyle picks up two assists as Langerak jumps into third spot

Martin Boyle registered two assists for Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup while Mitch Langerak’s Nagoya Grampus proved too hot to handle for FC Tokyo.

Over to Scotland where Martin Boyle teed up two of Hibs’ goals in their 4-1 win against Dundee in the League Cup group stage.

The Socceroos winger was on hand to assist for his side’s third and fourth goals of the contest which arrived in the space of three minutes.

His cut back set up Jamie Gullan on 80 minutes before Melker Hallberg wrong footed the Dundee shot stopper when he redirected Boyle’s effort on goal in the 83rd minute.

In the J League, Mitch Langerak picked up his 11th league clean sheet as his Nagoya Grampus triumphed 1-0 at home against FC Tokyo on Sunday night.

The three points arrived in stunning fashion with a 95th minute penalty deciding the affair.

A win against the men from the capital, who sat directly above them in 3rd place ahead of their clash was enough to see Langerak’s side surpass the 50-point mark as well as record their first win in three attempts.

Elsewhere, Thomas Deng was an unused substitute for Urawa Red Diamonds as they crashed to a 6-2 defeat at Yokohama F. Marinos on Saturday night.

The comprehensive defeat sees Urawa’s six match unbeaten run come to an end as they remain in 9th position on the league table.

In League One, Bailey Wright played the full match in the heart of defence for Sunderland as they went down 2-1 to MK Dons on Sunday morning.

The Black Cats suffered just their second defeat of the season against the lowly placed Dons.
