Aussies Abroad: Boyle fires for Hibs, Jeggo and Borrello enjoy winning debuts

Martin Boyle was at the centre of the action for Hibernian in their victory against St Mirren as a number of Socceroos players began their campaigns.

In the Scottish Premiership, Boyle weighed in with a goal and an assist in his side’s 3-0 win away to St Mirren on Sunday morning.

The Hibernian winger teed up Joe Newell for his side’s second goal when his cross from the right wing fell into the path of his onrushing teammate who slotted his strike into the bottom left hand corner.

The two then switched roles as Newell’s cross picked out Boyle at the far past who managed to head home at the far post from a tight angle to make it three to the good in the 59th minute.

James Jeggo had a debut to remember for Aris Thessaloniki after he put in a full shift in the heart of midfield in his side’s 3-1 win against Lamia in the Greek Super League on Saturday morning.

The Aris midfielder put his body on the line when he stuck his head in front of an opponent’s boot to make a goal line clearance shortly after his side conceded a penalty.

Thomas Deng played the full match for Urawa Red Diamonds as they overcame Consadole Sapporo 4-3 in what was a thrilling J League encounter on Sunday afternoon.

Urawa squandered a two goal lead before finding themselves 3-2 down with just under 25 minutes remaining.

They restored parity in the 75th minute before a strike on 93 minutes sealed the victory for Deng’s side.
