It’s been some rise for the brilliant goal-keeper, ever since he burst onto the Hyundai A-League scene with Central Coast Mariners as a fresh-faced teenager in 2010.

He made his mark on the Australian scene, winning the Joe Marston Medal in the Mariners 2011 grand final defeat as taking out the NAB Young Footballer of the Year on two occasions.

After helping the Mariners to an A-League title in 2013, Ryan move to Belgium side Club Brugge and his cat-like reflexes and ability to play with his feet have made him one of the best ‘keepers in the competition.

Following in the footsteps of Mark Schwarzer for the Socceroos was never going to be easy but Ryan has settled into the role with aplomb.

After doing a good job during the 2014 World Cup, Ryan was sensational as the Socceroos won the Asian Cup in January and finished as the tournament’s best gloveman.

Has the chance to be between the sticks in the Green and Gold for at least another decade.
