Rogic nets stunner in remarkable Celtic win

Caltex Socceroos star Tom Rogic was the hero in Scotland overnight as his Celtic outfit recorded a stunning come-from-behind 4-3 win over Motherwell.

In a thrilling contest, Rogic scored the winner in the 90th minute with a brilliant curling effort on his right foot.

The midfielder picked up the ball just outside the box before showing quick feet to stand up his defender and unleased a fizzing shot which arrowed into the bottom corner.

Earlier, Motherwell raced out of the blocks and took a two-goal lead into the break courtesy of a double from English striker Louis Moult.

Celtic rallied after the break and levelled proceedings with goals to Callum McGregor and Patrick Roberts.

In a remarkable period, Motherwell again went ahead through Lionel Ainsworth in the 71st minute before the Hoops struck back almost immediately from the restart through Stuart Armstrong.

Celtic finished the stronger and were rewarded with Rogic’s last-gasp strike snatching a thrilling victory in the dying stages.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are now 8 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and have three games in hand over fierce rivals Rangers.

The former Liverpool boss was full of praise for Rogic’s match-winning performance, with the Socceroo now having netted 10 goals for the campaign so far.

“He’s an amazing player, with a real high level of technique and he’s improving his stamina all the time,” Rodgers told www.celticfc.net

“He’s playing in different positions for us but what he can [do is] get goals and he’s scoring important goals. His contribution was outstanding.”
