Caltex Socceroos striker Tim Cahill pointed to a more composed performance by Australia in their 1-1 draw with Cameroon at the Confederations Cup on Friday morning (AEST).
After a 3-2 loss to Germany earlier in the week, a win was needed in the second group game in St Petersburg.

But after they equalised in the second half, in the end the Socceroos could not find a winner against a physically imposing Cameroon.
Cahill was a second half substitute for Australia in his 99th appearance for the national team.

“It’s a big point,” he told SBS TV.
“We knew we had to start well. Keep the ball and we knew they’d [Cameroon] put pressure on and they are quick on transition.
“They caught us a little off guard with their goal… we knew they were going to play balls over the top.
“[But] we dealt with it well and overall it’s good to see us get back our composure and get back in the game.”

“The back three or four were unbelievable.
“Overall today’s display is a just reward for the result and maybe we could’ve gone one better [and scored a second].
“It’s all to play for in the last game.”

‘We knew all the boys would be needed. And now we look forward to recovery then Chile.
“Really excited by it. We played them in the last World Cup and did well. And now we’re looking to go one better.”
Australia face Chile on Monday morning AEST in their final group game.
