Tom Rogic’s return to first-team football has taken another step forward with 15 minutes off the bench in Celtic’s 5-1 derby thrashing of Rangers.

Caltex Socceroo playmaker Tom Rogic started his first game for Celtic in four months but the Scottish champions were held to a controversial 2-2 draw with Ross County overnight.

Rogic played just over an hour before being substituted at the Global Energy Stadium.

The result extended Celtic’s unbeaten domestic campaign to 40 matches though all the talk after the game was around the Staggies’ final minute penalty to draw level.

Frustration boiled over at the decision to award the spot kick after Alex Schalk went down in the box, and it resulted in the visitors’ captain Scott Brown seeing red after a bad tackle on the scorer of the penalty, Liam Boyce, moments after the equalising goal.

The incident sparked a melee as the game ended on a sour note 2-2.
