Socceroo Rogic returns to Celtic training

In fabulous news for Socceroo fans, Tom Rogic is getting closer to a playing again after returning to training with Celtic this weekend.

The Celtic midfielder hadn’t featured this season after the groin injury which cost him a World Cup berth required further surgery in October.

But after a long stint of rehab the 21-year-old is back out on the pitch with his team-mates, sharing the news with his followers on Instagram.

“Good to be back out on the training pitch after so long,” Rogic wrote with a picture of him doing a drill with his Bhoys teammates.

While his return will come too late to be included in Ange Postecoglou’s extended Asian Cup squad, which will be named on Monday, the news will certainly be welcomed by Australian fans eager to see more of him in the green and gold.

Celtic boss Ronny Delia is understood to want to see what Rogic can offer once back to full fitness.

If Rogic does want some regular first-team football, maybe a return to the Hyundai A-League could be on the cards in the transfer window.

Sydney FC and his former coach Graham Arnold have two injury-replacement spots available due to long-term knee injuries to Ali Abbas and Corey Gamiero.

Rogic has made just 15 senior appearances for Celtic since arriving at Parkhead in 2013. He has also featured nine times for the Socceroos.
