England squad for Euro 2016, Caltex Socceroos clash

Roy Hodgson has today named a provisional 26-man squad for the 2016 European Championships and the friendly with the Caltex Socceroos later this month.

Hodgson delayed the announcement of the squad until Monday morning (London time) in order to assess the fitness of players following the final round of the Premier League over the weekend.

Superstars Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling were all included, with the Three Lions squad for Euro 2016 to be trimmed to 23 later this month.

18 -year-old Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was a shock inclusion in the squad, while towering West Ham striker Andy Carroll was left out.

Danny Welbeck, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Luke Shaw all missed out due to injury concerns.

England will play Turkey in a friendly in Manchester on May 23 before tackling Australia at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on May 28.
