Aussies abroad: Leckie scores in Bundesliga thriller

Socceroo Mat Leckie played a starring role for FC Ingolstadt overnight, finding the net in his side’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Stuttgart.

Leckie popped up in the 56th minute to head home a delightful cross from Max Chistiansen to give his side a 2-1 advantage at Audi-Sportpark.

Dario Leczano extended the hosts’ advantage just five minutes later before goals to Lukas Rupp and Daniel Didavi in the final 10 minutes rescued a point for the visitors.

In the 2.Bundesliga,  James Holland played a full match for MSV Duisburg in their 2-1 win over Union Berlin.

Elsewhere,  Massimo Luongo came on for the final 15 minutes as Queens Park Rangers easily disposed of Brentford 3-0 at home in the Championship.

Jason Davidson’s Huddersfield Town suffered a 3-1 loss away to Burnley, with the Socceroo replaced in the 84th minute for the visitors.

In League one, James Meredith played 90 minutes as Bradford City edged Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at Coral Windows Stadium.

The fullback provided the crucial assist for the hosts’ second goal, whipping in an inviting ball which was headed home by Jamie Proctor.

In League two,  Alex Cisak kept a clean sheet as Leyton Orient secured a thrilling 1-0 win over Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.

In the Chinese Super League, new Socceroo Apostolos Giannou got through 90 minutes as Guangzhou R & F earned a 1-0 win away to Tianjin Teda.
