Former Adelaide flyer's sensational goal in Denmark

Former Adelaide United flyer Awer Mabil has scored a cracking goal in Denmark this morning while Scott Jamieson helped his club to a huge win in Sweden.

Playing against his former club Midtjylland, Mabil opened the scoring for Esbjerg with a sublime free-kick midway through the first half.

Mabil’s strike, about 25 yards out, had plenty of power and swerve as it took a slight touch off the wall and snuck in just inside the far post.

Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, his stunning goal wasn’t enough to inspire his side to a much-needed win as Midtjylland equalised two minutes later.

The visitors then scored twice more after the break to leave Esbjerg with all three points to keep Mabil’s side on the bottom of the Danish Superliga ladder.

Fellow Aussie Brent McGrath was an unused substitute for Esbjerg.

Meanwhile in Sweden, former Wanderer Scott Jamieson played a full 90 minutes as his IFK Goteborg beat AIK 1-0.

The winner for the hosts came on 26 minutes as Emil Salomonsson’s cross from the right was turned home by Elias Omarsson.

The result keeps IFK Goteborg in fourth spot in the Swedish Allsvenskan and increased their unbeaten run at home to 27 straight matches in the league, dating back to April 2015.
