Luckless Socceroo struck down with injury

Curtis Good’s luckless run with injury has continued with the Socceroo defender suffering a setback in pre-season with Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old had surgery on his troublesome hip in February and made his return in the Magpies’ 1-0 friendly win over Gateshead on Friday.

But the injury has again flared up and the former Melbourne Heart stopper has been ruled out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour of the United States, according to the Shields Gazette.

Good made his senior Socceroos debut against Ecuador in March 2014 but was forced off in the second half with a hip-flexor complaint.

The defender was included in the Socceroos’ preliminary 30-man squad for last year’s World Cup but failed to overcome the injury and subsequently missed the tournament.
