Caltex Socceroo Chris Ikonomidis has scored his first goal for AGF Aarhus to ensure their win in the Danish Cup overnight, but there was disappointment for James Jeggo in Austria.
In a good night for an Aussie pair in Denmark, Ikonomidis scored the match-sealing goal for AGF in the final minute as they won 3-1 at Holbaek.
Fellow Aussie Mustafa Amini was superb for the visitors and played a prominent role in the build-up to set-up Ikonomidis’ strike.
The goal caps a memorable 24 hours for Ikonomidis after he was named in Ange Postecoglou’s extended 30-man squad for next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Thailand.
