Aussies abroad: Socceroos progress in FA Cup

On the one year anniversary of the Socceroos' AFC Asian Cup triumph plenty of our overseas stars tasted success with their clubs. Here's our wrap of the results.

Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak played the second half as Crystal Palace progressed from their FA Cup 4th Round clash against Stoke City with a 1-0 win.

Adam Federici was in goals for AFC Bournemouth as they got the better of 2008 winners Portsmouth, coming from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win at Fratton Park.

Brad Smith played a full match at Anfield as a youthful Liverpool line-up was held to a goalless draw by fellow EPL outfit West Ham United.

Jordan Lyden was an unused substitute as Aston Villa’s unbeaten run came to an end, knocked out of the Cup after a heavy 4-0 home loss to Manchester City.

Jason Davidson’s Huddersfield Town were beaten 3-2 at home by Cardiff City in the Championship.

James Meredith was in action for Bradford City as they moved up to tenth in League One following a 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town.

Bradden Inman put Crewe Alexandra ahead from the penalty spot but they had to settle for a 1-1 result away to Millwall.

Alex Cisak was between the posts for Lleyton Orient as they suffered a 3-1 loss to Cambridge United, dropping three places to ninth in League Two.

Europe

Mathew Leckie came up against German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, as FC Ingolstadt were dealt a 2-0 defeat at Westfalenstadion in the Bundesliga.

Brad Jones continued in goals for his new club NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie as they were humbled 3-0 at home by AZ Alkmaar.

Scott McDonald was in action for Mothwell as they claim a point on their travels to Dundee FC in the Scottish Premiership.

Asia

Brett Holman’s Emirates Club picked up three points courtesy of a 2-1 win over Al Sha’ab in the UAE.
