Caltex Socceroos duo Robbie Kruse and Mathew Leckie have both had penalty shootout disappointment in DFB Pokal (German Cup) this morning, but there was a big win for two Aussies in the Netherlands.
Making a rare start for Bayer Leverkusen, Kruse played 74 minutes in their clash with third-tier German outfit Sportfreunde Lotte.
But despite taking the lead twice during the 120 minutes, Lotte managed to equalise both times to force the match to a shootout.
And the minnows held their nerve, prevailing 4-3 on penalties to dump Leverkusen out in the round of 32.
