Aussies abroad: Ryan still top, Bozanic's Swiss joy

Maty Ryan’s Club Brugge’s remain on top of the Belgian Pro League after clawing their way back for a valuable draw on Monday morning (AEST), while Oliver Bozanic had a good day in the Swiss Super League.

There was little the Socceroo ‘keeper could do to stop KAA Gent in the first half as they raced to a 2-0 lead.

But Brugge, still stinging from their disappointment in the Europa League on Friday, fought back in the last 15 minutes to secure a crucial point.

Oscar Duarte and Claudemir ensured Brugge maintain their two-point lead at the top of the league with six matches remaining.

Elsewhere, Mathew Leckie played the full 90 minutes as FC Ingolstadt drew 2-2 away to Union Berlin.

Midfielder Oliver Bozanic also played a full game in Luzern’s superb away win over FC Basel in Switzerland.

It was an unhappy day for defender Ryan McGowan, whose Dundee United were crushed 3-0 at home against Scottish champions Celtic.

Ex-Brisbane Roar skipper Matt Smith played a full game in the Thai Premier League as Bangkok Glass drew 2-2 with Chonburi FC, while in Korea Alex Wilkinson was an unused sub in Jeonbuk’s 2-1 loss to Jeonnam Dragons.

James Holland was also left on the bench as Austria Wien won 2-0 against SCR Altach, as was Luke Wilkshire in Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw against FC Groningen.

Trent Sainsbury and Eli Babalj were not in PEC Zwolle’s squad, which drew 1-1 at home with Dutch powerhouses Ajax Amsterdam.
