Scott McDonald gave Motherwell an early advantage in Scotland’s Premiership run in, however they were beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone.
Jackson Irvine was in action for Ross County as they held Heart of Midlothian FC to a 1-1 result.
Meanwhile Ryan Edwards featured for Partick Thistle in the bottom six play-offs, as they won 2-0 at Kilmarnock FC.
EUROPE
Robbie Kruse was back in action for Bayer Leverkusen as they were beaten 2-1 on the road to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The forward got through 90 minutes in his first start since picking up a nasty injury in the Socceroos’ WCQ win over Jordan.
Mathew Leckie also played a full match as FC Ingolstadt were beaten 2-1 by Bayern Munich at Audisport Park. The win on the penultimate matchday saw Pep Guardiola’s squad crowned Bundesliga champions for a 26th time.
Mitch Langerak was handed his first start for VfB Stuttgart but it was an unhappy night for the goalkeeper whose side were beaten 3-1 by FSV Mainz. The result was Stuttgart’s fifth loss in a row and the club must now beat Wolfsburg next weekend to be a chance of avoiding relegation.
Chris Ikonomidis played an hour of Salernitana’s stalemate against Modena FC in Italy’s Serie B. The midfielder celebrated his maiden goal for the club and 21st birthday in the past week but couldn’t help the Salerno club escape the relegation play-off positions with two matches to play in the season.
Luke Wilkshire was shown a red card in the 80th minute of Terek Groznyi’s 1-0 loss to CSKA Moskva in Russia.
Aziz Behich’s Bursaspor had to settle for a point following a 3-3 draw against Osmanlispor FK in Turkey.

Apostolos Giannou played his part in Guangzhou R&F’s 2-0 win over Chongqing Lifan, with the three points seeing his side jump to sixth in the Chinese Super League.
Michael Thwaite played the duration of Liaoning Whowin’s goalless draw against Shanghai Shenhua, while James Troisi was not in the squad.
Meanwhile former Brisbane Roar captain helped Bangkok Glass keep a cleansheet in their 1-0 derby win over Bangkok United in Thailand.
